Kentuck Knob, (aka the Hagan House) was designed by Frank Lloyd Wright in rural Stewart Township near the village of Chalk Hill, PA in Fayette County, 45 miles southeast of Pittsburgh. The name Kentuck Knob is credited to the late 18th-century settler David Askins, who intended to move from Western PA to Kentucky, but then reconsidered & remained at this very property, naming his tract of land 'Little Kentuck.' From farmland to a diverse forest 🌲⁠ ⁠ The landscaping of Kentuck Knob has significantly changed during the Hagans residence and continues with the Palumbos stewardship of the grounds. ⁠ ⁠ When the Hagans bought the land when it was mostly farmland with very little in the way of large trees which was damaged by a chestnut blight that swept the region of native trees. ⁠ ⁠ As the house was built over 8,000 seedlings were purchased of 7 different varieties including poplar, oak, hickory, hemlock.
